I’m pretty sure most of the players have already memorized all the pages they need to look at to level up their alter-ego, but for all the new players, for my friends that constantly ask me what to do when they have to level up and even for veterans who just want a tidy recap, I thought it would be handy to have a step by step guide to follow that will hopefully make the whole level-up process faster. When it comes to progress through levels in D&D there are quite a few things to remember and all the information you need are scattered on different pages of the Player’s Handbook (and sometimes on other manuals). It’s the feeling of seeing your character finally getting stronger after you spent so many hours slaying ferocious beasts, exploring dark dungeons, making new acquaintances, escaping from situations you couldn’t handle at your previous level, opening treasure chests filled with coins and jewels (and sometimes empty ones), and so on, that makes this part of the game so exciting. I always found the level-up process to be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding nuances of any RPG, including Dungeons & Dragons. ![]() Stir occasionally to prevent rice from sticking to the bottom. ![]()

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared was one of those mysterious videos that seemingly emerged from the ether. It was certainly far enough to go viral, and truly viral at that. Meanwhile their shoestring budget could only afford them "these shitty lights from eBay," says Sloan, and during an all-nighter they ended up melting the roof. "The day before shooting, I remember Joe being like: 'maybe we should have made the main character first.'" And so the sketchbook was born. "The sketchbook was meant to be a little girl puppet, but I couldn't make it because I was really bad at making human characters," admits Sloan. It turns out that they stumbled onto the inanimate object motif. "I think they just thought we were moronic art students who'd gone too far. "We would make some pretty terrible stuff together," he admits, "stuff that no one should ever see." But it was on just such a weekend that they roped their friends into the haphazard - and hazardous - first shoot for Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. The two met at Kingston University where they were studying similar courses ( Pelling - Illustration and Animation, Sloan - Fine Art), and having graduated they were renting a studio together to get creative at weekends. Sloan says they were also inspired by kids' shows from the 1950s and 60s, shows that may have aspired to innocence but that, now outdated, feel creepy, like the "very English and weird" Watch with Mother (1952-1973). "It may have been as simple as, 'Wouldn't it be nice to build a felt set and some puppets in this corner of the studio to just mess around with,'" says Pelling of its genesis. But as the sketchbook begins to preach the wonders of creativity more and more aggressively, slowly but surely the puppets descend into madness. The whole enterprise just felt more shallow, more overproduced, and entirely lacking in the edge that made the original series so memorable, and so capable of unsettling me to this day.So far so Sesame Street. Yes, the format and presentation of the idea was in a creepy fucked up kids show. The "Time" episode in particular stands out as being about the nightmare nature of temporal existence itself. I also felt it lacked the macro-sense "something is wrong" vibes of the original series. I also felt like the characters suffered from being too "fleshed out." I felt they were more effective as archetypes rather than people. Maybe it's just because I knew what to expect, so it wasn't unnerving? Gordon’s changeup is a distant third pitch for him so he projects more in a middle relief role anyways, so those third time through the order struggles are expected and I don’t think they really impact how I value him. Back to Gordon, he has been mostly bad since moving to Triple-A but in his recent starts has begun to show more competitive performances. Ty Tice took over in the eighth inning, and he allowed two runs in his lone inning of relief which provided the cushion Norfolk needed to easily seal the victory.
